Paco Rossique concludes the restoration of his mural at the Teatro Cuys - La Provincia

The artist Paco Rossique has completed the cleaning and conservation of his mural The face of light, which for just 20 years - this 2019 the venue will celebrate its 20th anniversary - decorates the dependencies of the Cuyás Theater.
Famous for its sculpted faces, this emblematic reddish mural also works as a solar calendar, since during the summer solstice it is illuminated in a special way when receiving the rays of the sun, thus warning of the beginning of the new season, a phenomenon that, in future, will be explained by a information panel that has been installed coinciding with the completion of these works.
The work, which measures 30x12 meters and occupies a great wall in the offices of the theater of the Cabildo Gran Canaria, was designed by Rossique in 1999. On the cloth, whose colors remindrock art and the pottery of the ancient Canarian people, elements related to the performing arts and music, which are bathed by the sun during the aforementioned solstice, as can be seen in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcZ4d1NMqoA&feature=youtu .be.
So, they coexist in the mural, lightsshades, lines reminiscent of a pentagram or faces inspired by the masks used by actors in antiquity, but a black face representing a director or master of ceremonies stands out for its importance.
When during the solstice the star reaches the zenith and its light falls on that face, the title of the mural acquires all its meaning, because just then all the shadows disappear, as if the rest of the set was also illuminated, something very difficult to get considering the irregular textureand the large surface of it, which is around 400 square meters.
Something similar happens only once more throughout the year: when the inscription "Luz del 3 de FEBR" lights up, alluding to the date on which, 20 years ago, Rossique began to design his work.
